The High Desert Hari Society in collaboration with the New York Kampo Institute hosts a monthly virtual study group with Nigel Dawes on Kampo Medicine.
For 2023, we will return to the study group’s original format, focusing on therapeutics and the treatment of named disease. Content covered will include notes and quizzes from the full Kampo training program.
We will have the opportunity in each study group to have an in depth conversation about the formulas presented. Each study group will be led by Nigel and there will be plenty of time for questions, discussion, and feedback. The study groups will be held on one Monday each month via Zoom and will run from 9-10:30pm Eastern Standard Time. Communication and logistics will be handled primarily by Acazia Gilmore. Registrants will also receive recordings of all of the 2023 classes.
Additionally, students will be invited to enjoy the Kampo Google Group. The Google group is a place for Nigel’s students to ask questions and exchange information between the monthly Zoom meeting. It is a place to interact with other students, follow up on patient progress, have discussions about tricky patients and seek assistance as we continue to practice and learn the intricate art of diagnosis and prescription in Kampo. In order to participate in the Monthly Kampo Study Group meetings you must have taken a course from Nigel or be currently enrolled in a course with Nigel.
Participation in the Monthly Kampo Study Group requires a subscription.

- June 12 – Lower GI (small intestine, lower intestine, rectum)
- July 17 – Female hormonal and reproductive system
- August 14 – Kidney and urogenital system
- September – No Meeting
- October 16 – Blood and metabolic system
- November 13 – Neurological, muscular, and locomotor systems
- December 11 – Pediatrics
- January 15, 2024 – Dermatology

Please note, in order to participate in the Monthly Kampo Study Group meetings you must have taken a course from Nigel or be currently enrolled in a series with him.
Access to these meetings will be provided for a nominal monthly fee to support the ongoing operations and provide compensation to our instructor for his time and the wealth of knowledge he will be sharing with us.
Annual Subscription which will give you access to the entire “study year” in which you enroll, generally April through the following March. If you join after the first session, you will receive the audio files and any notes from previous sessions.
Annual Subscription payment: Kampo study group subscriptions are annual at a rate of $250.
Cancellation Policy:
Subscription cancellations will be prorated based on the time of cancellation and type of subscription and must be requested by sending an email to kampostudy@highdeserthari.org .
All cancellations will also incur a $10 administrative fee.
