William ‘KC’ Conover, L.Ac.

Back to Board and Staff List

“KC” Conover began a career in Alternative Health as a Holistic Health practitioner in 1985.  After completing advanced course work in East Asian medicine he was awarded the honorific title Fellow of the International Academy of Clinical Acupuncture in 1986. Entering the fledgling Pacific College of Oriental Medicine in 1987 and graduating by 1990, he was licensed in 1991 and began a very successful private practice. In 1991 KC also accepted a teaching position at PCOM that lasted until retirement in 2018. Over that period of time he taught multi levels of education in all major departments including Massage, Anatomy, Points, Herbology, Diagnosis and Evaluation, Fundamentals, and Clinical Techniques.  He was also a clinical supervisor in the college clinic and at off sites. Off sites included San Diego Hospice and Institute of Palliative Care, Rady Children’s Hospital, UCSD Integrative Clinic and the Homeless Clinic. In 1997, after returning from Japan, KC proposed and initiated the very popular Introduction to Japanese Meridian Therapy elective class that rapidly grew into 3 distinct courses, including Kampo Herbal Medicine, and 9 concurrent clinic shifts.

As a board member of the High Desert Hari Society, in corroboration with other members of the board, KC believes his contribution could only enhance the direction and expansion to introduce quality education globally, especially in the area of Japanese influenced East Asian medicine. With over 30 years in private practice and 27 years teaching and clinical supervision, his personal focus has always been directed by a deep affinity for the Japanese approach. The direction of the HDHS can serve as a welcomed bridge to span an educational void in the West and enhance the education and practice of East Asian medicine. KC feels that through his experience and corroboration with the board a broadened view of projecting the Society’s directive into the future would be fulfilled.
