Gabriel Govendo, L.Ac.

Back to Board and Staff List

Gabriel is licensed in the State of Massachusetts by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Board of Registration in Medicine and practices Japanese meridian therapy at an integrated clinic in Worcester, MA, and community-style acupuncture in the Boston area. He is an assistant teacher at MCPHS within its School of Acupuncture.  Gabriel is board certified by NCCAOM and a graduate of Southwest Acupuncture College in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Immediately after his graduation from Southwest, he began a three-year apprenticeship with Mr. Takayuki Koei Kuwahara, a master in Japanese Meridian Therapy. Gabriel’s apprenticeship was modeled after his teacher’s own apprenticeship in Japan and involved a rigorous schedule of treating patients and assisting in the clinic, as well as meditation and martial arts practice. Gabriel feels a deep gratitude for the opportunity he was granted to develop his practice in this way.

Gabriel has spent many years training in various martial arts and physical disciplines. Before becoming an acupuncturist, Gabriel volunteered as a peer counselor in a community clinic in Berkeley, CA. Desiring a more hands-on approach to healing, he completed a massage therapy program at the Academy of Chinese Culture and Health Sciences in Oakland, CA to become certified in Tui Na. Gabriel practiced as a massage therapist in California before moving to New Mexico to attend acupuncture school. Gabriel’s multifaceted foundation in the healing arts now informs his approach to holistic medicine.
